![]() This Sound panel shows the Playback tab and four playback devices: ![]() If you do not then the volume is turned off or the device is not working properly:Ĭheck the Volume control in the notification area to make sure the sound is turned up and not muted: You can test that a playback device is working by clicking on it to select it, clicking on the Configure button, then clicking the Test button on the Setup window that appears. ![]() So your playback device must be present in this list and it must be available – it should say “Ready” or “Default device”. If you check these you will also see devices that cannot be used at present but Windows knows about. If you right-click in the centre you will get a context menu with “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices”. You can see all the playback devices currently available in Control Panel, Sound panel, the Playback tab: The playback devices you have will depend on your machine.
